Our Company
Business counsel for studios that take their work seriously.
veldrisxad was founded on a simple observation — that many creative practices are well-run on the work side and underserved on the commercial side. We exist to help close that gap, quietly.

How veldrisxad came to be.
veldrisxad began in 2019 when its founding principal — having spent a decade working with small creative practices across Southeast Asia — noticed the same gap appearing again and again. Studios that made careful, intelligent work were often undercharging for it, absorbing scope without adjusting fees, or letting client relationships drift beyond their original terms. The work was good; the business of the work was quietly costing them.
The practice was formed to sit with studio principals and address that gap directly — through written notes, structured reviews, and unhurried working sessions. Not as auditors or turnaround consultants, but as a reader who understands both the commercial and the creative, and can move between the two without losing either.
We are based in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, and work with practices across Malaysia. The engagements are deliberately small in number. We take on a limited number of clients at any one time so that the work we do for each one is genuinely attentive.
Our mission
To help small creative practices in Malaysia run well on the business side — so that the work they care about can continue without the quiet erosion that comes from underpricing, unclear scope, or commercial drift.
How we see our role
We are not a substitute for an accountant or a lawyer. We are a reader — someone who looks at the commercial structure of a practice and says, plainly, what they see and what a measured adjustment might look like.
A practice-sized practice
veldrisxad is itself a small practice. We do not scale by adding junior consultants to engagements. The principal works directly with each client studio, from first conversation to final document.
The People
Who you are working with.
veldrisxad operates as a small, focused practice. The same people who take the brief deliver the work.
Marcus Rajan
Principal Consultant
Formerly a senior associate at an architecture firm, Marcus has spent twelve years reading the business side of creative practices across Malaysia and Singapore.
Aisha Yusoff
Engagement Manager
Aisha coordinates engagements and manages the documentation process, ensuring each written note reflects the studio's situation with care and precision.
Lim Tze Wei
Financial Reader
Tze Wei brings a background in small-practice finance to the team, helping translate fee and debtor data into plain language observations that principals can act on.
Standards
How we hold ourselves to account.
These are not policies we display; they are the working habits that shape every engagement.
Written deliverables, always
Every engagement ends with a written document. We do not rely on verbal summaries that fade. The note or review is yours to keep, revisit, and share with trusted advisors.
Strict client confidentiality
Studio financials, client lists, and project details shared with us are held in confidence and never referenced in public material or used in other engagements.
Clear scope before we begin
We define what the engagement covers — and what it does not — before the first invoice is issued. Studios know what they are paying for.
Direct principal involvement
The principal leads every engagement. Work is not delegated to junior staff. The same person who reads the brief delivers the written note.
Measured, not maximising
Our suggestions aim for the considered restoration of fair terms, not the maximum extractable position. We do not recommend what a studio cannot sustain.
Plain language throughout
We write for practitioners, not finance professionals. Our notes use plain language and avoid jargon that distances the reader from their own situation.
Expertise
A practice built around the particular situation of small creative businesses in Malaysia.
Small creative practices in Malaysia — architecture firms, graphic design studios, independent photographers, publishing operations, small communications agencies — occupy a distinctive commercial position. They are service businesses, but the service is inseparable from the judgment and sensibility of the person or small team delivering it. Standard business-consulting advice, oriented toward scalability and margin optimisation, often fits poorly.
veldrisxad has developed its approach specifically for this kind of practice. Fee structures in Malaysian creative sectors tend to follow conventions that do not always reflect the actual cost and quality of the work involved. Project scope has a particular tendency to expand without formal acknowledgement in studios where the relationship with the client is close. Debtor management can feel awkward where personal and professional lives overlap.
These are the questions we are used to sitting with. Our approach draws on direct experience working alongside creative practices, a reading of how comparable studios operate in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, and a set of working relationships with accountants and lawyers who specialize in small professional services firms in Malaysia.
The result is advice that is particular to the situation — not a repackaged corporate framework, but a considered reading of one studio's commercial reality, offered in writing, with the care the work deserves.
